Occasionally, we must deliberate over how we govern ourselves.

National Constitutional Convention

This site has been created by a group of Americans who believe our Constitution has become both outdated and dangerously undemocratic. Our team members have been involved in a critique of our political system for many years now, in one way or another. Some have devoted their educational and professional careers to a better understanding of our American political system, our Constitution, our democracy, our republic. Others have long been engaged in various social movements, organising so Americans can finally address the concerns before them. We organise here today, together, peacefully, to deliberate over a new Constitution for the United States. It may never be adopted. It may be rejected by the people as a whole, but if we prepare the table for all parties and set the tone for an honest, open, and thoughtful discussion, we may perhaps preserve the promise of democracy before it is lost and forgotten to posterity.

The constitutional convention is exactly that, a gathering of Americans, elected by the people in proportion to state population, who have been entrusted by the people to deliberate over and to propose a new constitution for the United States of America. This project is non-partisan, and it will be funded by the people. The guidelines are here to establish transparency, accountability, and above all, legitimacy.
